Since 1990 Josef Trattner has chosen pu-foam as a means of his artistic expression. Various installations in public spaces such as supersized meta-sofas (a project in 2003 in Graz, Austria) or the furnishing of the Viennese MuseumsQuartier have attracted public interest.

In his terminable installations Josef Trattner uses the reaction of the public as well as the impact of weather to show the interaction between form, colour, structure of the material, the place of the installation and the visitors who look, touch or use the foam.
This summer a new foam installation of Josef Trattner has caused quite some talking in Vienna. Passers-by had to take a second look at the well-known facade of the Künstlerhaus. The artist decorated the windows with pieces of foam and the whole ground floor of the Künstlerhaus was dedicated as well to Josef Trattner and his favourite material pu-foam.
